Moving Day

I'm still updating! I've BEEN updating! But I've mostly moved to my Deviant Art account and Comicfury. You can come find me there weekly:
http://playthehero.thecomicseries.com/

Or wait here for chapter-length postings. I'll be putting up megablocks of updates here once a month or so; anyone who likes reading longform comics art length, this is going to stay the best place for it!

Anyone else who happens to stumble across this site- come see me at
http://playthehero.thecomicseries.com/!

I'm Late Early!

I know I know, it's a day late, but it's only a day! That's the earliest I've ever been late!

I always have acres I want to say about each installment, but I don't want to give anything away. And I sort of feel like it's cheating to have lots of extra information in the manual this early in the story. Next volume (oh yeah, there's going to be a second arc. There's...a lot planned) I shall feel free to be rather more verbose. For now, uh, look! I think I'm getting better at word balloon placement!

See you Monday!

My Inner Editor Has A Straight Razor

I have, as suggested in the description on page 2 here, made many many more pages of PTH than anyone but me will ever see. This is probably going to keep happening, though I hope to get the ratio of junked pages from 3/5 to, say, 3/10.

This is why I can't have a buffer- not because I work too slowly, (I work in bursts and fits, and when I'm on, I am on fire) but because if I have work done much ahead of time it will occur to me that, really, it's not...perfect. Maybe not necessary. And if I cut out X pages, everything will move so much more quickly! Making it worse is that I do work in discreet little subsections; every new subchapter, I have this horrible urge to delete everything that went before, and start from Right Here. Like today! Oh man, how close I came to deleting everything else and starting over Right Here. You should applaud me self-restraint, if you, hypothetical audience, actually existed.

What's bad about this is that it's not wrong, exactly- I do not regret the pages I HAVE scuttled, it's led to better things- but fundamentally none of this story NEEDS to exist, and if I carve out all the bits that aren't megadrama! or superaction! then those bits will make no sense. And I actually love it when stories amble about a bit, so I don't know why I have this mad slasher of an interior editor.

Anyway! For once I was wanting to add more pages to an update-- but I'd rather try to be consistent for a while. If I can update for six weeks consistently, I get...um, I don't know what. A sense of accomplishment? A cookie? What say you, hypothetical audience? Ponies? Awesome.

I LIVE!

Through computer crashes untold and weird weather phenoms unnumbered...

Ok seriously this lag was NOT MY FAULT. I somehow (HOW?!?) lost three files in the big computer switcheroo. But I think the new versions are better anyway, so there! Yeah!

Happy to finally reach the end of a little mini-chapter--if only because I like the art next week much better. It's way more ambitious. And there's less talking. Which means less lettering. I HATE LETTERING SO MUCH.

On the other hand, it's the only part of the comic I know every reader has to look at. Oh backgrounds, you poor unloved things! Why don't I devote an enormous amount of energy to you in future installments?

Et By Bear

I said I was gonna post Mondays, and then I went and got deathly ill and lost all track of time. Sorry, folkses.

Here! To make up for it, how about I reload the comic with new improved formatting, so it's finally FINALLY not all fuzzy, courtesy of Resa Challendar who does the very cool Wandering Star! I'll be trying to get up the older pages this week, so that hopefully NEXT week, I can get this story back on the road! I got a lot of ground to make up for, but then, I got a lot of pages almost ready to go...

Monday Monday Monday!

Whew! Back up and running! Let's try this again.

Making a comic is a heck of a crash course in, well, everything involved in making a comic. I've been trying to go with the MWF schedule because it seemed plausible; but apparently, it isn't. Plus, while that works really well for gag or humor-drama comicsc, I've found all my actual favorite story comics don't so much do that. I like story in chunks, apparently.

So! Rather than slip into a Maybe-Whatever-Forget It schedule to meet some vague ideal I don't really like, I'm moving all of every update to Mondays. Every week! I can't promise big updates; some weeks it may only be a couple pages, or even just notes. But there's gonna be something here.

Well, unless I get et by a Bear. But that's another issue.

Enjoy the update, and see you next Monday!

Fimbulwinter

For those who don't know-

>I live in Texas

>Texas has been having rolling blackouts

>Also major storms

>Which has pretty much killed any computer-based productivity.

I'll try my best to be back next week, and FINALLY finish up this sequence- but sorry, folks, my weather-cannon ain't quite operational yet, and this one's just out of my hands.

Size Whiplash!

You might have noticed the size of the comics fluctuating at apparently random, here. I've been trying different formatting options to try and shake this bizarro fuzziness my images seem to have on SJ. Why, SJ, why? I don't want to seek out new hosts and new updating systems!

If you're reading along, and you're one of those people who doesn't know what to say in comments? Telling me which comic looks best on your screen would be really helpful about now. Easy post!
